Mars (Beaches), 1987 Queen St. E.

4 stars (out of 5)

Judging from reading other reviews of this place, service can be spotty. We got great service both recent visits, and a very good breakfast.

The space is really nice – a big windowed garage door at the front. When open, the first couple of tables almost join the patio out front – when closed it provides lots of light. The wall at the very back is also all windows, and overlooks the Kew Gardens play area, including the splash pad. Very bright back there too.

My eggs ‘n onions, not found on many diner menus in town, was a welcome surprise. The coffee was a step above typical diner fare.

It’s a nice, welcoming space with an extensive diner menu. I prefer this to the Yonge & Eglinton location, and to the run-down, past-it’s-prime original location on College.

(This review combines two visits)
