Quarry Cafe, 2560 Gerrard. St E.

The Quarry uses very good ingredients for an inexpensive breakfast.  On this visit, I had the cheddar and broccoli omelet, and the broccoli was fresh and the cheese real (not processed singles).  The home fries were tasty, and coffee was “greasy spoon bad”.

My wife, the poached egg connoisseur, gave the Quarry’s version a “thumbs up”.

One question…why the 50 cent premium on rye toast?  Come on!!?!??

On a subsequent visit, friends who are connoisseurs of corned beef hash thought it was excellent, including the perfectly poached eggs to put on top.

This place is worth the trip one short kilometer outside the old City of Toronto boundary (just east of Victoria Park Ave.).
